August 20th Farmers Market

I just looked back on my August 6th blog and I was complaining about the drought we were experiencing here on the farm.  How quickly 2 weeks can change my outlook on the situation.  I tried to walk on the sweet potato hills this am only to sink to my ankles in mud.  I wasn't trying to walk in the lower valleys where the water runs off.  Our fields are a mud hole at present.  That being said, we still have fields and a harvest when so many have lost all they have worked their lives for.  We are in prayer for those in our state who are in need and have lost everything.  During these times we are reminded to look to Christ.  He is our only comfort, help, redeemer, and friend.  I would like to encourage all of the Scoggins Family Farm customers to support their fellow neighbors in their plight.  If you can't find an individual to help, then find a donation site.  Do unto others as you would have done to you.  Love your neighbor as yourself.  Thank Ya'll ! Saturday August 20th we will be bringing to market:

March 19th Farmers Market

We are PLANTING!  It was a wonderful week of dirt, seedlings and tons of leaves!  We spend the winter collecting leaves in town that people rake, bag, and set by the road.  Our stock trailer looks like a trash truck.  It is a blast to ride around town recycling those wonderful leaves and pine straw.  If you don't like to weed your garden and are looking for a more natural way to keep the weeds down then mulch heavily with leaves and straw.  You reduce the amount of watering due to the mulch holding in the moisture.  We hope to be supplying your vegetable needs soon!!!
